Education & Background
Tariq grew up in Los Angeles and earned his Bachelor Degree from Cornell University. He went on to attend The University of California San Francisco School of Law (formerly U.C. Hastings), where he received his Juris Doctor. Tariq worked for nearly 20 years at the prestigious Santa Monica criminal defense law firm of Nasatir, Hirsch, Podberesky, Khero, and Genego, ultimately becoming a partner.

Tariq served as President of a Los Angeles City Commission, appointed by two mayors. He is also an active member of several professional organizations, including:
